The iconic Chambers of Wonder
In 1995 multimedia artist André Heller created a world of wonder to mark the one hundred year anniversary of Swarovski. The focal point being Swarovski Crystal Worlds in the guise of a giant. Behind this is the adventure-filled story of a giant, which doesn’t just inspire children:
- The giant had set out to experience the world and all of its treasures and wonders.
- With this knowledge, the giant settled in Wattens in Tyrol.
- And since then, he has watched over his Chambers of Wonder.
The original principle of these Chambers of Wonder is based on the historic chamber of wonder in Ambras Castle – close to Familotel Das Hopfgarten. It is said that here in the 16th century there was a universal collection of all knowledge known at that time. In the Chambers of Wonder, international and nationally renowned artists, designers and architects have interpreted crystal in their own inimitable ways. The installations in the exhibition spaces of crystalline art create concepts of space and experience using this sparkling material.
There is so much to discover, from modern art to ancient history. The realm of the giant provides space for a whole 17 Chambers of Wonder:
- Blue Hall
- Silent Light
- Crystal Dome
- Chandelier Jungle
- Into Lattice Sun
- Ready to Love
- Ice Alley
- Transparent Opacity
- Chandelier of Grief
- Studio Job Chambers of Wonder
- La Primadonna Assoluta
- Eden
- FAMOS
- 55 Million Crystals
- Heroes of Peace
- El Sol
- Timeless

Allow yourself to be swept away by the sparkling world of crystal. For instance, visitors can stroll along the mirror pool and little ones can climb the play tower.
On an area spanning almost 8 hectares, working in collaboration with various artists, designers and architects based around André Heller, the enchanting and magical world of the giant has evolved. The highlight is the extensive park area with its unique art installations and new structures.
Highlights in the garden:
- Carousel
- For children: Play tower and play area

The play tower – Play on several levels
In the play tower a wide selection of play experiences open upon four different levels arranged on top of each other. These are connected via a vertical climbing net, up to a height of just over 14 metres. There are a variety of activities available:
- Climbing
- Rocking
- Swinging
- Sliding
- And a sensation of floating.
Its all here. The façades of the play tower designed by Snøhetta comprise 160 crystalline facets, with no two alike. The panes are imprinted with an innovative pattern of tiny animal motifs. Working with Ravensburger Freizeit und Promotion GmbH, new play modules have also been developed: A sliding puzzle featuring the giant and the animal memory game are just two of the highlights.
The playground – a space to run around outdoors
The play tower is complemented by an exceptional play area. A free-form landscape made from steel and wood provides children with countless opportunities to play. Children have different opportunities to discover new games and forms of movement .
A 25 metre climbing route and twisty ball tracks are highlights in the play area at Swarovski Crystal World. The water play area too provides so much fun. Especially in the summer.
The Labyrinth
One of the most beautiful sections of the extensive park landscape is the green labyrinth in the shape of a hand, which invites you to play hide and seek.
